On April 2, 2346 people were evacuated from Nizamuddin Markaz, the international headquarters of Tabligi Jamaat in Delhi.  On April 3, 2,547 corona cases were reported in India.  Officials claimed that 25 percent of Corona cases were due to people who had joined Markaz and later spread across the country.

Ali says that he was with his mother-in-law and wife in Markaz till March 12, and after that he went to a mosque in Old Delhi from where he was later quarantined by the police.  On May 10, the Delhi government ordered the members of the Tablighi Jamaat to be evacuated from the Quarantine Center.  After this the government arranged for them to remain separate.  Many people started living in private schools, while Ali's family shifted to a house in Shaheen Bagh.  Later Ali's report also came back positive and he was treated for 20 days in LNJP Hospital
